Job Description:
A Content Developer with 5 to 10 years of experience is responsible for creating clear, concise, and engaging written content that explains complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
A Content Developer with 5 to 10 years of experience plays a crucial role in making complex technical information accessible to a wide audience.
They contribute to the development of clear and user-friendly technical documentation that enhances the user experience and understanding of products and services.
This role often involves collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) to transform technical information into user-friendly videos, documentation, guides, manuals, and online content.
This Content Developer will be primarily responsible for tutorial, promotional, and demonstration videos for software tools and applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Video Production: Draft, script, and record tutorial, promotional, and demo videos on software tools.
Content Creation: Develop technical documentation, user manuals, product guides, and online help content to assist end-users in understanding complex technical products and services.
Collaboration: Collaborate with SMEs, engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather information, understand technical concepts, and translate them into easy-to-understand content.
Content Enhancement: Review and improve existing technical documentation for clarity, consistency, and user-friendliness. Ensure that content meets organizational standards.
User-Centered Approach: Apply user-centered design principles to create content that meets the needs and expectations of the target audience.
Multi-Format Content: Develop content for various formats, including printed documents, online help systems, and knowledge base articles.
Visual Aids: Work with graphic designers and illustrators to include visuals, diagrams, and other visual aids to enhance content comprehension and adhere to brand standards.
Quality Control: Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of technical documentation. Review, edit, and proofread content for errors and adherence to style guidelines.
Documentation Maintenance: Keep technical documents up to date as products and technologies evolve.
Feedback Incorporation: Collect and analyze feedback from end-users and internal stakeholders to continuously improve documentation quality.
Software Tools: Utilize documentation and content management tools, as well as version control systems, to organize and track changes in content.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as technical writing, media production, or a technical discipline.
5 to 10 years of experience in content development, or a related role.
Proficiency in using content tools and software, including but not limited to Camtasia, SnagIt, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, an SharePoint.
Strong writing and editing skills, with a focus on clarity, conciseness, and user-friendliness.
Understanding of technical concepts and the ability to translate them into simple, easy-to-understand language.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Experience with document formatting and design principles.
Knowledge of style guides and best practices in technical writing and video production.
Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality content. Adaptability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
PLEASE NOTE: This Content Developer will primarily focus on video production for the content team. Candidate MUST have experience using Camtasia to create software-centered videos.
