Immediate W2 contract position available in Euharlee, GA. Estimated Duration: 1 year
Desired Qualifications:
The Mechanical Engineer SR 1 position requires 10+ years of related experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
A professional engineer license is desired.
Job Responsibilities:
Mechanical engineering designs on small and medium retrofit, environmental and new generation projects.
Leading in conducting mechanical design activities including pipe sizing and routing, material selection, pipe support design, valve selection, P&ID development, equipment layout, equipment specifications, and hydraulic calculations.
Developing datasheets for valves and other equipment.
Providing technical direction to designers.
Developing project scopes, schedules and budgets.
Making sound independent decisions with minimal information.
Assisting in checkout and startup of systems when necessary.
Required Skillsets and Expertise:
Significant experience with design of new construction and/or retrofit of power generation or heavy industrial facilities and the ability to take the lead role for detailed design activities.
Significant knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles.
Proficiency with applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
Experience in development, preparation and checking of P&IDs.
Experience with overall design and layout of piping systems, pipe sizing and routing, material selection, pipe support design, equipment selection, preparation of inquiry packages/data sheets, and specification of tanks, pumps, and balance of plant equipment.
Experience with hydraulic calculations.
Pipe-Flo (or similar software) experience is preferred.
Significant working knowledge of processes equipment including piping, valves (manual/control/relief), pumps, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers.
Experience with relief valve and control sizing.
The ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.
