JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position will provide support of Transmission Line Estimates.
Successful candidate must have experience with estimating.
Should have technical design or engineering experience.
Electric utility experience a plus.
Transmission experience a plus.
Transmission Line experience highly desired.
Transmission Line Design experience highly desired.
PLS-CADD experience a plus.
Must have experience with Estimating software, GIS, databases, reading engineering drawings, Microsoft suite, excellent communication skills, ability to work with a team, manage multiple conflicting priorities, work with excellent attitude, not be afraid to ask questions, enjoy learning, and take direction well.
Required field visits should be seldom but depending on successful candidate background, and specific project parameters, this could be useful tool to better understand estimate requirements.
If field visit is required PPE is also required.
Required PPE:
Hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots… and possibly safety vest (if the project is along the road).
Overall hybrid – however there will be an expectation that they adjust their schedule to work with our Head Estimator to line up time for training.
Much of that training may be more effective in person but that will be up to the one who is doing the training.
A Transmission Analyst is a professional responsible for monitoring and analyzing data related to the transmission and distribution of energy, typically in the context of electrical power systems. They play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of power grids.
Responsibilities:
Data Analysis:
Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to the transmission of electricity, including voltage levels, load forecasts, equipment performance, and grid conditions.
Grid Monitoring:
Continuously monitor the status and performance of transmission lines, transformers, substations, and other grid assets using supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems and other monitoring tools.
Incident Response:
Respond to alarms, alerts, and anomalies in the transmission system promptly and take corrective actions to minimize disruptions and maintain grid stability.
Network Optimization:
Analyze transmission system configurations and recommend adjustments to optimize power flow, reduce congestion, and enhance grid resilience.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines governing the transmission and distribution of electricity.
Reporting:
Prepare and present reports on grid performance, outages, and other relevant data to stakeholders, including utility management and regulatory authorities.
Asset Management:
Assist in managing and maintaining grid assets by tracking maintenance schedules, conducting condition assessments, and recommending repair or replacement when necessary.
Fault Analysis:
Investigate the root causes of equipment failures and transmission line faults and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
Emergency Response:
Participate in emergency response and restoration efforts during power outages or grid emergencies.
Technology Integration:
Stay updated on advancements in grid technology, such as smart grid systems and renewable energy integration, and assess their potential impact on transmission operations.
Qualifications:
Education:
A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, or a related field is typically required.
Advanced degrees or certifications may be preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in power system analysis software, SCADA systems, and data analysis tools.
Knowledge of power system modeling and simulation is essential.
Regulatory Knowledge:
Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards, such as those set by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Analytical Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex data and identify trends or issues.
Communication:
Excellent communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Attention to Detail:
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate data analysis and reporting.
Adaptability:
Ability to adapt to changing grid conditions and respond to emergencies.
